Precision CNC Machining

Machining Aerospace Brackets to Your Drawing

Aerospace brackets attach equipment, wire harnesses, ducts and interior parts to the aircraft structure and transfer loads between them. AeroCNCParts, a machining division of DEK, machines them to your drawing, from simple angle clips to multi-face equipment brackets, in aluminum, titanium and stainless steel, as part of our structural support components.

The first article is inspected, with an AS9102-style FAI report on request, and repeat batches run on the same program and inspection plan.

Materials for aerospace brackets

Stress-relieved tempers distort less; see aerospace aluminum and titanium brackets for grades and machining notes.

Surface finishes

Each finish is applied per the drawing's callout, and parts ship finished to your specification.

  • Chem film (MIL-DTL-5541), per the drawing; see chromate conversion coating.
  • Type II or Type III anodizing (MIL-A-8625): on aluminum brackets.
  • Passivation (AMS 2700): on stainless steel brackets.
  • Shot peening: applied where the drawing requires it.
Applications

Types of aircraft brackets we machine

Every type is machined to your drawing, not picked from a catalog. We also machine channel and U brackets, Z and offset brackets that bridge parallel faces, and gussets that stiffen corner joints.

  • Angle, L and clip brackets

Join two members at an angle; clips tie frames to stringers or skins.

  • Equipment mounting brackets

Carry avionics boxes, sensors and racks; see our mounting brackets.

  • Cable and harness routing brackets

Keep wiring and lines at a set distance; see cable routing brackets.

  • Interior brackets

Armrest, bin and partition attachments; see overhead bin brackets.

  • Multi-face brackets

Angled faces and holes on several sides, machined in one 5-axis setup.

Capabilities

Machining capabilities for aerospace brackets

Brackets are machined from plate or bar, the usual route for loaded parts with tight hole patterns; see how structural parts and brackets are machined. Multi-face parts go through 5-axis aerospace machining, so every feature shares one datum scheme.

Hole true position is held to the drawing's datums (ASME Y14.5) so the bracket bolts on without reaming, and mounting faces are finished last. Critical features are measured on CMM, with an AS9102-style FAI report on request.

Process & Quality

DFM review: datums, load paths and cost-driving features checked before we cut.
CAM and fixturing: toolpaths planned so bores and faces share one datum scheme.
In-process checks: probing and sampling keep critical features on target.
First article and CMM: FAI and CMM reports supplied on request.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers on bracket uses and types, materials, machined versus sheet-metal brackets, and small batches.

What are aerospace brackets used for?
They attach equipment, harnesses, ducts and interior parts to the aircraft structure and transfer loads between them.
What types of aircraft brackets are there?
Angle and clip, channel, Z and offset, mounting, cable-routing and interior brackets. Complex ones are machined in a single 5-axis setup.
Which material is best for aircraft brackets?
Stress-relieved 7075 or 7050 aluminum for most structural brackets. Titanium where heat, contact with carbon-fiber structure or high loads require it.
Machined or sheet-metal brackets?
Machined brackets hold tighter tolerances and integrate features such as bosses and pockets. Formed brackets cost less for simple, thin parts.
Can you machine small batches of custom brackets?
Yes, small batches and repeat orders to your drawing.

Send your drawing and 3D model for a quote: an engineer reviews it before machining, NDAs are signed on request, and repeat batches follow the same inspection plan.
