Titanium Aerospace Components

We machine titanium aerospace components to your drawing for aircraft structures, cabin interiors and equipment. Titanium carries high loads at low mass, resists corrosion and sits next to carbon-fiber structure.

Finishes

Finishes for Titanium Parts

Passivation

Cleaning and passivation per the drawing's specification

Cleaning and passivation per the specification called out on your drawing, with the heat / lot number carried through finishing.

Shot Peening

AMS 2430 shot peening for fatigue-sensitive parts

Shot peening per AMS 2430 is applied to fatigue-sensitive titanium parts where the drawing requires it.

Components

Titanium Parts We Machine

  • Attach and Hinge Fittings

Galvanic compatibility with CFRP and strength-to-weight: see titanium structural fittings.

  • Brackets and Mounting Parts

High strength in a small envelope for structures and installations: see titanium aerospace brackets.

  • Seat and Interior Fittings

Strength at low mass on parts repeated on every seat row: see our seat fittings.

  • Equipment and Avionics Mounts

Stiffness and low mass on mounts that carry sensitive units, machined per drawing.

Machining

Machining Considerations for Titanium Parts

Heat at the Tool Tip

Heat stays in the tool, so rigid setups, sharp carbide tools, controlled speeds and high-pressure coolant limit tool wear.

Work Hardening

The tool keeps cutting rather than rubbing: dwelling or very light passes harden the surface and shorten tool life.

Thin Walls and Chatter

Thin walls on brackets and fittings deflect; machining sequence, step-down and fixture support keep them to size.

Single-Setup Fittings

5-axis machining of titanium cuts lugs, bores and angled faces in one clamping with short tools.

Alpha Case Removal

Forgings and air heat-treated parts carry a hard, brittle surface layer, machined off to the depth the drawing sets.

Comparison

Titanium grades we machine

We machine to the material specification on your drawing.

Grade Spec examples Typical parts
Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5) AMS 4911 (plate, sheet), AMS 4928 (bar, forgings), ASTM B348 (bar), ASTM B265 (plate, sheet) Fittings, brackets, mounts, seat fittings
Ti-6Al-4V ELI (Grade 23) Per the material callout on the drawing Parts where the drawing requires higher fracture toughness
Commercially pure Grade 2 ASTM B265 (plate, sheet), ASTM B348 (bar) Low-load, corrosion-resistant parts
FAQ

Titanium Machining FAQ

Answers on grades, components, certificates, tolerances and finishes for titanium parts machined to your drawing.

Why is titanium used for aerospace components?
High strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, good fatigue behavior and galvanic compatibility with carbon-fiber structures, so titanium carries high loads at low mass next to CFRP.
Which titanium grade is most common for aerospace parts?
Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5), supplied to AMS 4911 for plate and sheet or AMS 4928 for bar and forgings. We also machine Ti-6Al-4V ELI (Grade 23) and commercially pure Grade 2.
Which titanium aerospace components do you machine?
Structural fittings, brackets, mounting components, seat and interior fittings and equipment mounts, to your drawing. UAV, eVTOL and space parts are machined for programs in stable production.
Can you supply mill certificates with titanium parts?
Yes. On request, we supply material certificates traceable to the heat or lot, with the FAI report and Certificate of Conformance your program needs. Parts are made under an ISO 9001-certified quality system.
What tolerances can you hold on titanium components?
Within our range of ±0.01 mm to ±0.005 mm, depending on geometry.
Which finishes are available for titanium parts?
Cleaning and passivation per your specification, and shot peening (AMS 2430) for fatigue-sensitive parts where the drawing requires it.

Send your drawing and 3D model for a quote: an engineer reviews it before machining, NDAs are signed on request, and repeat batches follow the same inspection plan.
